How the numbers work

Net rate (base price)

The MRP on the pack includes GST, so first strip GST to reach the taxable base.

Net rate = MRP ÷ (1 + GST%)
PTR — Price to Retailer

The rate a retailer pays the stockist, after the retailer margin comes off the net rate.

PTR = Net rate × (1 − Retailer margin%)
PTS — Price to Stockist

The rate a stockist pays the company, after the stockist margin comes off the PTR.

PTS = PTR × (1 − Stockist margin%)
Reading a margin back

Given two rates, margin is profit as a share of the higher (selling) price.

Margin% = (Sell − Cost) ÷ Sell × 100
